“Tear Down This Wall” Us President Ronald Reagen’s Speech Touches the Hearts Berliners

WEST BERLIN: US President Ronald Reagen called for the opening of the Berlin wall in a speech he gave in West Berlin on June 12, 1987.

Reagan called out General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev, to open the Berlin Wall, which had separated West and East Berlin since 1961.

“Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” remarked Reagen during his speech.

The speech became famous after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 and was regarded as one of the most unforgettable performances of an American president in Berlin.
