RECAP OF LECTURE: INTRODUCTION TO DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY & IMAGING
The first week with Mr. Fauzi was refreshing and eye-opening. He taught us the importance of photoshop, which we can use to create many different designs. Here are the reasons why we need to learn photoshop:
  1. To express creativity
  2. Create graphic design
  3. Restoration of old image
  4. Integrate graphics with text artistically
  5. Make use of brushes
  6. Change photo color
  7. Rectify mistakes in the photograph
He also shared with us the "Top 10 Tips of Successful Graphic Designers" :

  1. Follow tutorials
  2. Experiment
  3. Memorize Keyboard shortcuts
  4. Try and replicate other work
  5. Do participate in design competitions
  6. Subscribe to online galleries
  7. Using smart objects for smart designer
  8. Scaling artworks and proportions
  9. Use actions to personalize work
  10. Organizing files properly
Afterward, Mr. Fauzi enlightened us with his past students' work. They look very inspiring and impressive! It is also very motivating to look.
Mr. Fauzi assigned our first task, which is a physical collage. It is made by cutting out pieces from old magazines, printouts, and fabric. He allowed us to print the materials we needed as well.
We also created a Pinterest account and a board for DPI. Mr. Fauzi asked us to choose 3 graphic designs that we liked and insert them on the board as well as the google docs submitted on google classroom. I also explained why I chose those designs.

Below are my 3 favorite graphic design works from Pinterest:
Figure 1.1
(By: INDIEGROUND)

This design is like a newspaper, but the content is not about news. It is about mental health and the pandemic from the point of view of young people. The graphics are cute and colorful. I find the artwork attractive and very relatable.

I also drawn to this is digital painting with graphics, text, and brush strokes. The color palette blends nicely, and the over piece looking aesthetically pleasing and artistic. I love how the girl in the artwork has a mysterious look in her eyes as if there is a deep meaning behind the artist's drawing.

This kind of graphic design style is currently trending on social media pages and Pinterest. It is minimalist, very aesthetically pleasing to the eye, and has a classy touch. The neutral colors are also very soft, which I love.

Later, Mr. Fauzi introduced a game called 'Bezier' to us. The game is very cool. It lets us practice drawing using our mouse, just like the pen tool in Photoshop.

Finally, we created a blog using BlogSpot to document our design processes, including our notes, ongoing works, final products, and reflections. This is my first time using the site, and I hope I can get the hang of it soon!
