RECAP OF LECTURE: INTRO TO AFTER EFFECTS
What is After Effects?

Adobe After Effects is a 2.5D animation software used for animation, visual effects, and motion picture compositing. After Effects is used in film, TV, and web video creation. This software is used in the post-production phase and has hundreds of effects that can be used to manipulate imagery. This allows you to combine layers of video and images into the same scene.

(Souce: Mr. Fauzi's slides)

Adobe After Effects takes a different approach for creating movement. Motion graphics animation works by manipulating vector and rasterized art to create and tell a story. You can integrate physical based media as well through photographs and videography.

PRE-COMPOSITING IN ADOBE PHOTOSHOP

Transforming still images (graphic elements and photography) into moving images.

Compositing Layers in Photoshop

(Souce: Mr. Fauzi's slides)

Basically Photoshop is a platform to compositing the layers. All the layers need to be arrange and rename accordingly so that it will be organize and easy to be animated in
After Effects.

PROJECT 2B: POSTER DESIGN PROGRESSION

FEEDBACK FROM THE LECTURER:

Figure 2.1
Mr. Fauzi said the photography looks good, but he wanted me to revise the font arrangement. He also gave me a reference as a guide so I can create the composition to match my photography.

Figure 2.3
Then I tried to rearrange my text with reference to the inspiration from Mr. Fauzi.

Figure 2.4
I also tried to make the flower petals overlap and intertwine with the text so it will look like it is "growing".

FINAL POSTER

This is my final typography arrange and I think it looks the best among my attempts.

Description:

The COVID-19 pandemic brings challenges to our lives, but those challenges, in turn, bring great opportunities as well. Research by BetterUp has shown that accelerated learning during the pandemic has occurred not just in the skills needed for work but also in mindsets and behaviors that help us navigate change and achieve personal thriving. The five areas of accelerated self-development are the locus of control, stress management, empathy, authenticity, and self-awareness. The process of self-development involves practicing self-love first. It is about getting in touch with ourselves, our well-being, and our happiness. Self-love helps us push through our limiting beliefs and live a life that truly shines. Although it is good to want to get better in our lives, we tend to better ourselves all at once rather than concentrate on one important thing at a time. It is recommended to take one day at a time that will eventually turn into a lifetime of change. We can become better overall if we have a day-to-day plan and stick to it.

REFLECTION

This week was quite stressful as I had many submissions from other modules as well. However, I am satisfied with the final outcome of my poster design. The practical exercise using After Effects also help prep and try out some tools me for the final assignment.

PROJECT 4 – SELF TITLED PROGRESSION

For project 4, we need to create a Cinemagraph (Self-Titled). Self-titled is an exploration project for the students to express their own individuality and reflect their personality into digital art self-expression. The main idea is to build up self-confidence and  discover their interest.

The term "cinemagraph" was coined in 2011, when photographer Jamie Beck and digital artist Kevin Burg used the technique to animate some of their photography and wanted a name other than "animated photo." Photographers were already exploring that way of showing photos with animation, but it was their body of work that attracted attention and got people doing their own cinemagraphs. Suddenly it was trendy to have animated GIFs again, although those modern examples were not based on clipart from the early days of the Web, but really photographs with an area showing minor and repeated movement.

We should use Surrealistic imagery using mostly our own photographs edited and manipulated in Photoshop then animated. Keywords; penrose, escher, cinemagraph, surrealistic gif

Duration: 15 second
Output: .MOV or .MP4 less than 20MB

Idea Development: 5 marks (WEEK 10)
Design Direction: 5 marks (WEEK 11)

Execution and Post Production: 10 marks (WEEK 12)
Animation & Finishing: 10 marks (WEEK 13)

Submission: WEEK 14

I think living a balanced life helps me to achieve my dream because yes, we have to grind, but we should not forget to rest, we are all humans. Ultimately, what’s most important is to be a good human.

SUMMARY: How do you want to visualize your dream into an artwork?

I love quotes, I can relate to them, and they can help me reflect on myself. With it, I hope to bring a positive message to people who see my artwork. I’m planning to go for a simple and aesthetic design so that people don’t think too much and easily get the message and vibe of the artwork.

Statement about my work

INTRO: I would like to bring out and illustrate calmness in the storm of the pandemic while creating something simple yet aesthetically pleasing.

PARAGRAPH 1: What is the concept behind it?

The message I wanted to bring out is that yes, we have to grind, but don’t forget to rest, we are all humans. Ultimately, what’s most important is to be a good human

Amidst the uncertainty of the pandemic, yes, there are drawbacks, but it brings us closer to our family either physically or spiritually. With the bad things, we start to appreciate the good things, no matter how little they are. Always be grateful for everything we have.

SUMMARY: What is your motto/ quote?

Don’t worry, and go with the flow.
