BTS Unveils "BE" Album Release in Global Press Conference

Korean boyband BTS released their long-awaited album, describing their work as a “letter of hope.”

SEOUL (Nov 20): BTS, a South Korean K-pop band, introduced their highly anticipated new album "BE" on Friday, which they describe as a “letter of hope”.

While adhering to social distancing guidelines, a press conference was held to introduce the band’s second album this year. Their work includes the popular English song “Dynamite,” which claimed the No.1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100, making history as the first K-pop group to do so.

The conference was also streamed live on the Big Hit Labels’ YouTube channel, where thousands of BTS fans tuned in to listen to the band's discussion about their upcoming album.

BTS, consisting of J-Hope, Jin, Jimin, Jungkook, RM, Suga, and V, wanted to send a “letter of hope" to illustrate how every cloud has a silver lining regardless of the COVID-19 situation.

One of the members, Jin, expressed his hopes that fans will be able to relate to the album's feelings of uncertainty and emptiness and eventually find comfort in the experiences that the band shared.

‘BE’, the “self-directed” album, is precious and meaningful to the members as they not only composed the music but also took part in filming the music video, developing the storyboard, styling, and more for the first time. 

“We wanted our fans to feel that we made this album together even when we can’t meet in person," RM, the leader, remarked. He explained how the band had opened up their behind-the-scenes works through posting their ideas and production process online. 

Suga was unable to attend the press conference due to shoulder surgery.

“I hope we can get nominated and receive a Grammy in a group-related category,” J-Hope replied when asked about the upcoming Grammy Awards on Nov 24.

With BTS’ success, RM hoped it would create more opportunities for people outside the mainstream music industry into the United States.
