REFLECTION

Experience

The 14 weeks were a challenging experience. I had drawn and drawn a lot which was my weakness. The vormator was simpler than the other assignments, as I simply had to combine shapes. The decisive moment poster was more challenging as I had to draw from scratch. The webtoon assignment was even more difficult as I had to draw so many things, and it was the first time for me to draw this much in 3-4 weeks. In the end, I felt satisfied after working with the motion comic and seeing how it turned out. This module was not easy and has pushed me outside of my comfort zone through sketching and digitalising them on Adobe. Moreover, it was my first time working with a digital pen and drawing pad.

Observation

I observed that I was terrible at drawing at first. But the more I make illustrations, the better I get. I find that I like to draw cute characters as well similar to the axolotl(Task 1) and the ghost characters(Task 3) that I drew. I also found that whether I choose to work on After Effects or Premiere Pro, as long as the result is good, then the software shouldn't matter. When creating the motion comic(Task 4), I saw that sound effects boosted my video to make it more engaging to the audience. When I showed the motion comic to my friends and family, they liked it. I observed that I am less insecure about sketching than I was before.

Feelings

I think that anyone can draw even if they think they can't. One should have the patience to try and try again. I also find that it is satisfying to see the results of my efforts after working so hard on the assignments. I am also interested to design more chiaroscuro artworks in the future as I like the minimalist look I did for the Squid Game-themed poster (Task 2). The experiences I gained throughout the module let me learn what I enjoyed and what I did not. For example, I used the digital pen and drawing pad in the front section of my comic, whereas I used my mouse and brush tool to draw the back section of the comic. It made me realise that I liked working with the mouse better as I felt I could draw more neatly using it. I have grown fond of drawing now, and am interested in drawing even more in the future.
